Tech to Wreck: Ancient Dragon, Magmaarmor

Hey Cardfighters,

This is a new thing that will be VERY sporadic since I don't always have an interesting card to talk about. As the name suggests it is going to be able a card that will help out a ton in a certain match and usually a card that is overlooked and forgotten. I'll make a page and add it to the list under the banner :) Hopefully this will help you all be ahead of the curve/get new ideas on how to build decks!

Ancient Dragon, Magmaarmor
(In anticipation of the Technical Booster)

This guy is probably the best forgotten card for Tachikaze right now. He works well in basically every variant of Tachikaze except maybe Dark Rex. He fits into Ancient Dragons (ADs) since he is one so you get name shenanigans and his skill is actually not restricted to ADs which means he'll fit really well into a generic deck as well. Lets go a bit over his pros and cons.

PROS:

  • Non LEGION skill lets him hit 19k when boosted by your starter which is super good if your opponent is trying to do that annoying Grade 2 game thing.
  • Take advantage of the extremely powerful AD engine. Speedy early game can set the pace of the game and he keeps AD name so your skills don't deactivate unlike if you are teching in Dark Rex/Gaia
  • Legion skill is NON-AD this means shenanigans muahahha. Mainly the fact taht engore can eat ANY number of units. So to pay for engorge you could eat a separate side column and then Counterblast 2 & Soulblast 2 and then bring it back for more pain.
CONS:
  • Soul will be an issue. Most of Tachi's best starters don't go into the soul so unless you are running soulcharging triggers then you probably won't be getting that much soul.
  • Magmaarmor's mate basically does nothing. It is legion specific so it won't work while striding or early game where AD usually shines.
Even though there is only one more 'pro' than there is 'con' I think that he is still a magnificent choice. The mate issues can be worked around by playing 2 mates since you don't need to legion more than once and Tachi has a few soul charging triggers to play around with as well.

I would highly recommend trying out Magmaarmor in your Tachikaze decks, whether it is Ancient Dragons or Generic he'll make a great back up that takes advantage of the new support very well.

Let me know if you try him out!

Thanks for reading,

Chris
