First time using Trifecta modified Goku. I was pretty excited going into the tournament couldn't wait to try my updated Goku versus other players.
Overview: The tournament was pretty small only about 16 people so it was 4 rounds of swiss and then a cut to top 8.
Round 1: Silver Thorn Pale moons
His deck was missing normal Luqiers so he wasn't able to get cross ride defense. He also just started playing the deck today so was unsuure about certain plays. I won by killing controlling his field and I didn't have to worry too much because he missed the break ride.
Round 2: Chaosbreaker
Hate playing against Link Jokers because when they lock my vanguard booster behind Goku I can't hit anything with his 10k power. I was able to get a nice early rush but eventually I got triangle locked for consecutive turns and combined with draws from chaosbreaker I couldn't punch through his defenses after that.
Round 3: Beast Deities (EXTREME)
Had terrible luck here as I had no defense early and I couldn't stop an aggressive grade 2 rush. He beat me before he could even use EXTREME's limit break effect.
Round 4: Gold Paladin Liberators Trial deck
Faced a little kid using a Gold paladin trial deck. Not much of a fight. I destroyed his field and he kept "1 passing" my vanguard and eventually I got the triggers and took him down easily.
So at this point I'm 2-2 with pretty terrible tie breakers (I only beat pretty weak players.) But miracuously I managed to get into top 8.
Top 8: Chaos Breaker
Awesome... I got to fight the same chaosbreaker opponent that beat me before. Was a really close first game and he pulled double triggers on me to get through my guard but if he hadn't I probably could have won the that game. Second game I made a misplay of not breakriding over Dauntless in an attempt to get him to 4 daamage so he would be forced to guard all my attacks, but he took a hit went to 4 and then triangle locked me, killed me and that was the end of my tournament.
Over all I was pretty happy with the deck. I find that I have a lot of trouble setting up a full field a lot of times. it might be due to most of my grade 1s I want to hold on to (Guard Grifffons and perfect guards) so I might just have to alter my play a little more to set up full columns as opposed to maximizing guard.
A few changes I'm making are switching gojos for aermo and changing the trigger line up to 4 crit 8 draw. My thoughts behind the changes are to make it easier for me to set up my field with the extra draws getting me what I want and also the gojo switch is because I found that I wasn't using gojo that much and I think it would be better to get the free cycles rather than losing out on attacking power. Also cross rides don't seem to be every as I was afraid they would be so not being able to hit them isn't as much of a problm as I had suspected.
I'm also looking to get a hold of another Dauntless before EB9 comes out and the prices jump riding Dauntless at grade 3 has been a nice choice when they haven't played a lot of grade 1s yet because I can hold off on Goku until he has more things to kill.
Ending thoughts: It seems like a lot of people at the shop I go to are building Chaos breaker and there were 2 Chaos breakers already built and in the tournament and if those decks start being the dominant decks I'm going to have to switch to Dungaree just to avoid getting stomped on as I suspect Chaosbreaker to be a 80-20 matchup in their favor.
