As you may know we recently got information that Clanfight will be implemented in the English format after March 30th.
If you don't know what Clanfight is its basically that your deck can only have one clan in it unless your a Glendios player you can use Reverse units and a MLB player can use 4 blaster darks.
Now I lets talk about the two sides of the 'argument' for a little.
Those who are against Clanfight:
- It takes out the creativity from the game.
- This is kinda of stupid in my opinion. If you are one of those people go a head and get mad at me but I think you are close-minded. Without Clanfight its not that hard to come up with a deck. Take the Deletor/Witch+Frozen Ogle decks. So creative. Its not that hard to see that if you reduce your opponent's vanguard to 0 then a ton of attacks are good. You're not the only person who's thought of it. So that being said its not that hard to see how clanfight doesn't add creativity. But does it take it away? If we lose wacky mixed clan decks are we really killing creativity? Or is it that since you can't play your crazy over the top mixed clan deck that you feel you must play a top tier cookie cutter list of DOTX to win? The only thing you can blame to destroy creativity is your unwillingness to innovate with Clanfight implemented.
(Side note: Deletor/Witch + Frozen Ogle is almost the same as Spike Bros Breakride+Legion crush rush combo anyway) - Something about it ruining the game.
- This is just as stupid. The game was never meant to be played with clan mixing it defeats the whole theme of the Cardfight Vanguard. I understand the desire to bend the rules as much as possible because I try to do that in many of the games I play but clan mixing no. Did you ever put another clan's card in your deck because you thought "This guy is like some badass mercenary from Clan X and Clan Y is paying him to help out with their fights" probably not. Most likely it was because said card is ridiculously ovepowered in your deck. (E.G. Frozen Ogle searching out Catbutler in Cat-Raizers)
- It is healthy for the game
- People seem to think that without clanfight there will be some super powered mixed deck that will trump all. I think its both true and false. There will be different main strategies whether it is preventing your opponent from guarding at all or making a bajillion attacks while your opponent is deleted. So in that sense what they are saying is untrue. But the problem is that decks lose their uniqueness. With the advent of the G-Boosters pretty much anything will be able to be used in any deck. This means that any deck can retire and any deck can restand its vanguard and any deck can manipulate the opponent's ability to guard. Because of that every deck will feel the same and it becomes a psuedo 1 deck format. You won't be comfortable going super offensive because your opponent could have retires even if its Angel Feather. To me that is unhealthy, being able to learn match ups to take use each decks advantages and disadvantages to give your self an edge is an important and in my opinion fun part of the game.
- It was never meant to be
- Its true.
(Did you expect me to say anything else?)
- I never clan mixed because I felt like it was never meant to be I liked the flavor of the world where there are different clans and they each have their own specialties. I think that clan mixing ruins the feel of the game. I also think its not as challenging. As an avid deckbuilder I appreciate the person who thought if I use Jumbo the Stungun at the end of my Ogle chain I can unflip a damage to use Bloody Ogle more than the person who thought oh wow putting my opponent at 0 power for a turn, I bet if I stuck in some Frozen Ogles it would be really good. (Turns out it is) And that's because to me Deletors+Ogles is obvious anyone can see that if you drop your opponents power a ton then multi-attacks will be insane. But I would have never thought of Jumbo myself. Granted I'm not a spikes player but even if I was I don't know if I would have seen it.
